Teacher Makes Bluebird Home Improvements

Math teacher Peter Aleksiewicz has taken on a summer project to help the Forest's feathered residents. He's been rehabilitating and installing bluebird houses all over the Woodberry Forest campus. "I got excited about this project when my wife, Marcia, showed me a group of fledgling bluebirds outside the Kube House where we live," Peter says. So far, he has built, repaired, or installed eight houses, with two more in in progress.

Woodberry's campus provides a perfect bluebird habitat; its open fields, fencelines, and scattered trees offer ideal conditions. And Peter's commitment to placing and monitoring suitable homes for the cavity-nesters will help even more of these beautiful songbirds call Woodberry home.
