Ruffin Memorial Natatorium Upgraded

A preseason update from Coach Gregory Guldin:
Many of you are probably all-too-familiar with the orange glow that has lit the pool deck in the Ruffin Memorial Natatorium since the building was built. Furthermore, some of you may
even have helped set a few of the records that were posted on the record board mounted on the wall. It is with pleasure that I report on several upgrades made to the natatorium this summer as a direct result of the gracious support of generous alumni, hard-working staff, and a  supportive school community. Visit the WFS Swimming and Diving blog for more photos.
A new record board steals the eyes of all who enter the pool as it hangs directly across from the spectator stands. New low-energy, high-efficiency LED lighting has replaced the old orange mercury vapor fixtures. The walls within the facility received a new coat of paint and our school symbol (the W-paw) now graces the entry to the Tiger's den (locker room). A new power tower has replaced the rusty, blue power racks, which now give our swimmers the ability to train against resistance for a full 25 yards. Major renovations were completed on the pool deck storage room, which can now accommodate the equipment of up to 41 swimmers and divers. With the addition of a new diving board in the fall of 2010, the natatorium has certainly undergone a major facelift. Future projects nclude a new tribute wall to all former and current All-American swimmers and divers.

Many thanks go out to all those who made these upgrades possible and to all those who put many hours into them.

The Tigers are ready to attack the upcoming season!
