Ned Hardison Named Robertson Scholar at UNC-Chapel Hill

Woodberry Forest School is proud to announce that Ned Hardison, a sixth-form student from Charlotte who will graduate this weekend, has been named a Robertson Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Ned is one of thirty-one students who will be entering UNC and Duke University as part of the Robertson Scholars Program.

Ned was selected from a highly competitive group of applicants from around the world.  He and the other scholars were invited to join the Robertson Program based on their “demonstration of outstanding achievement, intellectual curiosity, passion for learning at Duke and UNC, exceptional leadership potential and interest in working with others,” according to a statement from Alex Perwich, the program’s executive director. The program is designed to help students become “thoughtful, creative, lifelong contributors to society.”

The Robertson Scholars program is a unique scholarship within higher education, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the academic and social life at two world-renowned universities.  Scholars are given access to courses, research opportunities, and cultural events at UNC and Duke.  The scholarship provides full tuition, room, board, and fees, as well as funding for three summer experiences.
