Class of 1985 Dedicates Gillespie Family Field

“Comradeship and love of alma mater” were resounding themes on the evening of Saturday, April 17, as the Class of 1985 gathered to dedicate Gillespie Family Field. The second of two turf fields installed during summer 2008, the field was named to honor the entire family of the late Robert F. Gillespie, Jr. whose combined service to Woodberry spanned more than forty years. Recognizing the unique contributions of this dedicated family to campus life—from coaching, to teaching, to hosting students in their home—the class launched the fundraising effort as their 25th Reunion gift to the school. Moving remarks, laughter, and tears were shared by classmates, other reunion guests, and the Gillespie family, who were all in attendance.
