Woodberry Forest finished second to Collegiate in the Virginia Preparatory League's annual tournament. The Cougars won by 9 strokes, posting a two-day total of 603 on the 6677-yard, par 72 Independence GC, in Midlothian. The Tigers' senior co-captain Peter Wilson won the individual championship by five shots with a (+1) score of 145 (77-68). Wilson shot a tournament best (-4) 68 in the second round, easily overcoming a four shot deficit.
Woodberry's other senior co-captain John Moore finished 9th with a two-day total of 153 (78-75), earning All-Prep Honors. Other Tigers scores were freshman Jim Frazier 155 (76-79); senior Leverett Garing 160 (82-78); sophomore Franklin Dolan 160 (81-79);and junior Jason Saunders 163 (81-82).
Woodberry was third after the first round (312), trailing Collegiate(304) and St. Christopher's (305). Trinity was in fourth (314). The Tigers improved by twelve shots on the second day to overtake the Saints and hold off the Titans for second.
Woodberry finished the regular season with a 6-2-1 dual match record.
