Elevate your Game at Woodberry

Football Camp runs Tuesday, July 8 - Friday, July 11, 2025

The Woodberry Forest School Football Camp is an incredibly fun, challenging, and rewarding opportunity for boys who love football. Whether a boy has been playing for years, or just started their journey through the game, the camp is designed to advance and improve boys’ skills, techniques, and knowledge of the game.

Boys who attend this camp will be coached by Woodberry's head football coach, Jackson Matteo, along with current Woodberry players and assistant coaches. Boys will also have access to Woodberry’s facilities, including grass and turf fields, indoor track and fitness centers, and the outdoor pool for cooling off on hot days, and the end of camp pool party.

As a coaching staff, our goal during this camp is to facilitate the growth of young men through the beautiful game of football while also coaching and teaching the boys football techniques, schemes, and skills that will increase their football playing ability.

Jackson Matteo is a three-time graduate of The University of Virginia, where he started 30 games on the offensive line from 2012-2016 and served as team captain in 2016. He holds a bachelor's degree in sociology and a master's degree in higher education focusing on athletic administration; he completed a doctoral program at UVA's School of Education and defended his dissertation in the spring of 2023. Jackson was a graduate assistant coach at UVA under Bronco Mendenhall, working with the defensive backs in 2017 and the offensive line in 2018-2019. During his tenure as graduate assistant coach, Matteo helped Virginia achieve three consecutive bowl berths, winning the Atlantic Coast Conference's Coastal Division in 2019. In 2024, he led Woodberry's football team to an undefeated season, a Virginia Prep League title, and was named Sports Illustrated's Virginia Coach of the Year.

"Jackson is a tremendous leader who has had a rich football experience," said Athletic Director Matt Blundin. "He has already demonstrated his ability as a transformative coach on our campus. He sustains an infectious energy and dedicates every interaction toward developing young men of character."
